Raleigh, NC — Americans for Prosperity Action (AFP Action) recently announced its endorsement of Rep. Ted Budd’s re-election to North Carolina’s 13^th Congressional District. Budd earned support for his work in Congress to cut taxes, remove barriers to opportunity and expand access to health care. As an organization, AFP Action is dedicated to supporting candidates based on their active leadership roles on top policy priorities for improving the lives of all Americans.

In a memo to interested parties, AFP Action Senior Advisor Chris McCoy expanded on the endorsement. 

McCoy also issued the following statement:

“In ways large and small, Rep. Budd has worked to reduce taxes at every opportunity, stepping up to pass the historic Tax Cuts and Jobs Act in Congress. In his first year, he also proposed the Reset Act of 2017, which would have allowed Congress to overturn any regulation through a majority vote in both the House and the Senate. He’s also led efforts to develop innovative solutions that lift burdens and expand access to quality, affordable health care by introducing a bill to strengthen short-term, limited-duration health plans.”

“It’s rare to find a representative who so clearly and consistently does what they promised to do. North Carolina can continue to eliminate barriers and expand economic opportunity by re-electing Rep. Ted Budd.”

Major media is taking note of American for Prosperity Action’s expansive plans for the 2020 election.

CNN reported on AFP Action’s efforts in mid-January, highlighting Americans for Prosperity Action Senior Advisor Emily Seidel’s insistence that the group’s focus on creating nonpartisan policy coalitions does not mean it is backing away from electoral politics.

But it is taking a different tack.

“The people who thought that we may have been backing down from politics are going to be surprised, because the reality is we’ve been strengthening our capabilities to go bigger than ever before,” Seidel told CNN. AFP Action plans to be more active in more races in 2020 than ever before.

Announces Early Support for U.S. House of Representatives Policy Champions

Arlington, VA – Americans for Prosperity Action (AFP Action) today announced plans for historic political engagement at the federal and state levels in 2020, evaluating two to three times as many races as 2018. As part of this announcement, AFP Action released a new wave of endorsements for four members of the U.S. House of Representatives, each identified as a policy champion thanks to their legislative leadership in breaking barriers to opportunity and improving the lives of all Americans.  Endorsed lawmakers include: Rep. Ted Budd (NC-13), Rep. Steve Chabot (OH-01), Rep. Scott Perry (PA-10), and Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05). AFP Action will spread the positive messages of these candidates and their accomplishments through a wide range of tactics encouraging voters to support them at the ballot box.

In 2019, AFP Action engaged in more races than any other off-cycle year in history. With respect to endorsements in 2020, AFP Action Senior Advisor Emily Seidel told CNN, “We’re not looking for Democrats. We’re not looking for Republicans. We’re looking for people who are committed to driving on these policies that we believe will help improve the lives of all Americans.”

MADISON, WI—Americans for Prosperity Action (AFP Action) today issued a statement regarding candidate for Wisconsin’s 7^th Congressional District Jason Church to reconsider his recent policy position reversal regarding the Davis-Bacon Act and other job-killing labor mandates. “The antiquated Davis-Bacon Act and similar crony policies do little more than promote government favoritism and encourage the construction of lower quality infrastructure projects at higher costs. In an award winning 2015 study, the Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance estimated that the repeal of Wisconsin’s state prevailing wage law on vertical construction alone save taxpayers as much as $299 million per year.
