Statement from Emily Seidel on President Joe Biden Ending his Reelection Campaign

Arlington, VA — In response to President Biden’s decision today to end his campaign for reelection, President and CEO of Americans for Prosperity and AFP Action senior advisor Emily Seidel issued the following statement:

“We’ve said before that this will be the most unpredictable presidential race in our lifetime. Today’s decision by President Biden to step aside is the latest twist bearing that out. It remains to be seen what the Democratic Party will do, but it’s important to remember that it isn’t one individual, rather the policies of an entire administration and its allies in Congress, that Americans are suffering under.

“As we’ve always said, no matter what happens at the top of the ticket, the best way to defend against the worst policy threats at the federal level is to elect strong candidates in the Senate and the House. The uncertainty playing out today underscores why our continued focus on those key Senate and House races is so important.

“In our discussions with voters, we’re also noticing a shift: for the first time, views on the top of the ticket aren’t translating to down-ballot races. The impact you’d expect to see from the presidential race just isn’t there. That means it would be a mistake for any candidate to rely on high disapproval at the presidential level to pull them across the finish line and secure a win. It won’t be enough.

“So far, AFP and AFP Action have reached out to more than 7 million voters in more than 400 races across the country supporting strong candidates who are well positioned to win, but still have an uphill climb. The strong candidates we’re supporting across the country are going to need to earn every vote by laying out their vision for a brighter future and the policies it will take to get there.

“What those candidates can count on, is that AFP and AFP Action are going to be out in full force – on the ground, at the doors, and with highly targeted ads and mail to reach the key voters who are going to make the difference in these races. No one has been more focused and active in these critical races in the Senate and House, and we’re only getting stronger.”

AFP Action Congratulates State Rep. Gabe Evans on Primary Victory

“Rep. Caraveo has failed to be an independent voice for Coloradans in Congress. Instead, she’s voted time and again in lockstep with Joe Biden. Coloradans are struggling with high inflation and the skyrocketing cost of living in the state and deserve a leader who will stand up to their party bosses.

“From his time as a police officer to his role in the legislature, State Rep. Gabe Evans has dedicated his life to the service of his community. This dedication to public service will continue in Congress as Rep. Evans has vowed to rein in Washington’s reckless spending and stop the attempts to stifle the American energy industry.

“AFP Action congratulates Rep. Evans on tonight’s victory. As we look to November, AFP Action intends to put the full weight of its grassroots capability behind Evans’ candidacy to unseat Caraveo.”

LAS VEGAS, NV – In resounding fashion, Sam Brown won the Republican nomination to face off against Jacky Rosen for the U.S. Senate in the general election this November.
