McCormick Bests Casey in Harrisburg Debate

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania – After the debate between Bob Casey Jr. and Dave McCormick, AFP Action Senior Advisor Emily Greene released the following statement:

“Tonight, Dave McCormick showed Pennsylvanians his vision to reignite the American Dream. He outlined real policy solutions and offered the Keystone State a chance to turn the page on nearly 20 years of Bob Casey’s failed leadership in the U.S. Senate.

“Bob Casey has had nearly 20 years in the Senate. Why do we think he’s going to make things better THIS time?

“He understands the problems that Pennsylvanians face and—more importantly—champions the policies that will solve those problems. From expanding economic opportunity, to restoring fiscal responsibility, unleashing American energy, to securing the border, Dave has what it takes to properly represent Pennsylvania.

“That’s why AFP Action has knocked over 700,000 doors across the commonwealth—because we believe he is the candidate who will go to Washington and help the country correct course.”

In Energy Rich Pennsylvania, Casey is Weak on American Power

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, – As the debate between Dave McCormick and Bob Casey Jr. is underway, Bob Casey fails to be a champion for Pennsylvania’s energy sector.

Despite Kamala Harris’s very clear history of advocating for a ban on fracking, Bob Casey refuses to speak out or urge Harris to make her support for U.S. energy abundance clear.

AFP Action Senior Advisor Emily Greene released the following statement:

“Bob Casey pays lip service to Pennsylvania’s energy potential every six years, but we know that he isn’t a real champion for our energy sector. He supported the EPA’s EV mandate, supported increased CAFE standards, opposed the Keystone Pipeline, and is noticeably quiet on Kamala Harris’s historic opposition to fracking.

“Dave McCormick is committed to unleashing energy abundance and has promised to embrace an all-of-the-above approach to domestic energy production. It’s time for Pennsylvania to be an energy-exporting state and we can do that by replacing Bob Casey in the U.S. Senate.”

Bob Casey Jr. is a Rubber Stamp for the Biden-Harris Agenda

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania – While Senator Casey claims he’s an independent voice for Pennsylvania the Senate, the truth is that he’s been a rubber-stamp for the Biden-Harris agenda and he’s spent his nearly 20 years in the Senate advancing a progressive agenda that’s out of step with Pennsylvania voters.

In the debate, Casey desperately tried to distance himself from the economic failures of the Biden-Harris administration, but he has voted with the president 98% of the time.

AFP Action Senior Advisor Emily Greene released the following statement:

“When we talk to Pennsylvania voters at the doors, they are often surprised to learn that Bob Casey has been in office for nearly 20 years. They’re even more surprised to learn that he isn’t the moderate he claims to be. His record shows that he’s a rubber stamp for a progressive agenda that hurts Pennsylvanians. It’s time for the Keystone State to have bold and authentic representation in Washington, and that’s why we’re pounding the pavement for Dave McCormick.”

Casey Blames Businesses for His Bad Votes

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania – In tonight’s debate, Bob Casey Jr. attempted to defend his economic record after voting for legislation that triggered the cost-of-living crisis that’s squeezing hard-working Pennsylvanians.

Casey celebrated the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which did not lower inflation. Instead, the IRA has resulted in U.S. gas prices increasing by nearly 62%, natural gas prices spiking by more than 40 percent, and included a $250-billion-dollar Department of Energy Loan Guarantee Program to fund liberal pet projects. Studies show that far from reducing inflation, the IRA and other signature pieces of the Biden-Harris economic agenda overheated the economy and led to the crushing cost increase in household goods.

AFP Action Senior Advisor Emily Greene released the following statement:

“Pennsylvanians deserve better than Bob Casey trying to pull the wool over their eyes about the true source of inflation. He voted for it. And rather than own his record, he’s pointing the finger at the job creators who are suffering under the Biden-Harris agenda—which Casey rubber-stamped.”

Casey Refuses to Secure the Border Despite Cost to Pennsylvanians

Harrisburg, PA – While Bob Casey Jr. attempts to defend the Biden-Harris administration’s failure to secure the southern border, AFP Action is highlighting the incumbent Senator’s history of failure on border security.

  • Bob Casey was the deciding vote to kill an amendment that would have provided funding for constructing a wall on the US-Mexico border.
  • Bob Casey was the deciding vote to kill an amendment that would have provided $500 million for walls and fences along the southwest border.
  • Despite the CPB’s support for building a border wall, Bob Casey has repeatedly stated that “it won’t work” and criticized previous attempts to restore order at the U.S.-Mexico border.

AFP Action Senior Advisor Emily Greene released the following statement:

“Pennsylvania has been ravaged by the opioid epidemic. We know that fentanyl is entering the US through our porous border, but Bob Casey refuses to take the problem seriously because it would pit him against his progressive allies in DC.

“We need tall fences and wide gates, but to accomplish that we need real leadership that understands the plight of Pennsylvanians and takes the problem seriously. Bob Casey has shown his true colors on this issue. It’s time for new leadership in Washington, and Dave McCormick is ready to step up.”

AFP Action Backs former Congressman Mike Rogers for U.S. Senate

Lansing, Michigan—Today Americans for Prosperity Action (AFP Action) threw its support behind former Congressman Mike Rogers in his bid to serve as Michigan’s next Senator.

AFP Action endorsed Rogers for his commitment to lowering taxes, embracing energy abundance, and eliminating harmful regulations. If elected, Michiganders can look to him to oppose inflationary government spending and vote to secure the border that has been neglected by the current administration.

This endorsement rounds out AFP Action’s Senate “Firewall Strategy,” to prevent one-party progressive rule in Washington.

After the announcement, AFP Action Senior Advisor Tim Golding issued the following statement:

“Michiganders are energized and motivated to send a policy champion like former Michigan Congressman Mike Rogers to the U.S. Senate. For years, Michigan’s Senators have prioritized special interests over the concerns of their constituents.

“By backing Mike Rogers, AFP Action is backing transformative policy that can renew America’s economy and reignite the American Dream: from keeping taxes low, to embracing an all-of-the-above approach to domestic energy production, to securing the border and opposing inflationary government spending, Michiganders can rely on Rogers to voice their concerns and stand up for their families. Now more than ever, this is a chance to send a proven leader back to Washington and say “no” to the inflationary spending and overburdensome regulations backed by Elissa Slotkin and her entrenched allies.”

In addition to its 24/7 grassroots operation, AFP Action will support Rogers’ bid with its best-in-class data and digital capabilities, including an initial $1.7 million ad buy in the Great Lake State for the month of August.

Background:

Rep. Scott Hilton

In his time in the legislature, Rep. Hilton has been a big supporter of education choice. As a freshman lawmaker, he introduced HB 801, an Education Savings Account proposal, and in 2024 he advocated passionately for SB 233 in 2024 in the Education Committee and on the House floor, a bill that ultimately was signed into law. He has co-sponsored legislation making it easier for people to get to work, like HB 1142 and HB 1144, and voted for laws that reformed outdated regulations like certificate of need (HB1339) and occupational licensing for beauty services (SB 354).

Rep. Deborah Silcox

Rep. Silcox has been a consistent and reliable supporter of education choice while a member of the State House. In 2024, Rep. Silcox leaned into healthcare reform, encouraging her colleagues in a speech on the House floor that while HB1339 was a step in the right direction, more reform is needed to Georgia’s outdated certificate of need regulation. She also co-sponsored HB 926, the Second Chance Workforce Act, which will significantly improve the work prospects of many Georgians with a past criminal record.

Rep. Matt Reeves

Reeves has consistently voted for legislation supporting freedom and opportunity, like SB 233 the Georgia Promise Scholarship Act, HB 1339 certificate of need reform, and SB 354, reforms to occupational licensing. He also authored HB 926, the Second Chance Workforce Act, which will significantly improve the work prospects of many Georgians with a past criminal record. He was also the House sponsor of SB 414, the Personal Privacy Protection Act, which ensures state agencies may not publicize citizens’ private information unlawfully

Elvia Davila

A first-time candidate, Davila is a community leader dedicated to improving the lives of the people of House District 108. If elected, Davila will support legislation that removes government barriers to freedom and opportunity.

Sandy Donatucci

Donatucci is a mother and small businesswoman. She knows how difficult inflation is for families and businesses. She will go to Atlanta and work to lower taxes and government red tape to ensure Georgia continues to have a strong economy and prosperity for all.
