AFP Action Minnesota Announces Second Wave of Minnesota State Legislative Endorsements

ST. PAUL, MN – Today, Americans for Prosperity Action Minnesota (AFPA-MN) announced its second slate of endorsements for the state House of Representatives.

The following six candidates have earned AFPA-MN’s support for their steadfast commitment to expanding freedom and opportunity across Minnesota. AFPA will deploy its network of grassroots activists across the state to support these candidates with door-to-door canvassing, digital ads and mail so that they win in November and then get to work making Minnesota a freer, more prosperous state.

AFPA-MN Senior Advisor, Jake Coleman, gave the following statement:

“It’s high time for a change in our state legislature, after years of the Democratic majority’s poor leadership and radical policy priorities that have hurt hardworking Minnesotans and saddled the state with a budget deficit.

“This year we have the unique opportunity to help restore sanity and responsibility in the House and Senate by engaging in key elections, supporting both principled incumbents and challengers who will fight for fiscal restraint, lower taxes, and education freedom.”

Endorsed candidates

Roger Skraba (HD-03A): Skraba is a prominent voice for education reform, who will get to work on day one to make sure every student, urban or rural, has access to an education that meets their unique needs. Separately, Americans for Prosperity-MN (AFP-MN) is eager to partner with him in repealing Minnesota’s “Right of First Refusal” laws and other large-scale regulatory issues.

State Rep. Jeff Dotseth (HD-11A): Dotseth is a champion for responsible fiscal policy in the House, where he uses his position on the Commerce and Regulatory Reform Committee and background as a small business owner to push for responsible tax cuts and reductions in state spending. He’s also a trusted voice for parental rights in education who will work to expand educational opportunities across the state.

Aaron Repinski (non-incumbent, HD-26A): Repinski is ready to get to work cutting state spending and demanding accountability for the government’s reckless fiscal policy. He is a strong advocate for free market reforms in health care, who will fight for health savings accounts (HSAs) and expanding insurance coverage across state lines. AFP-MN also looks forward to working with Repinski in expanding parental rights in education.

Steve Pape (non-incumbent, HD-35B): Pape is an energetic newcomer who will prioritize reducing taxes, returning budget surplus funds to taxpayers, and balancing the state’s budget.

Wayne Johnson (non-incumbent, HD-41A): Johnson, a former Washington County commissioner, will be a strong ally in the fight to cut taxes and unleash prosperity across Minnesota. As a small business owner, he is acutely aware of how high tax burdens and government red tape hurt working Minnesotans.

Caleb Steffenhagen (non-incumbent, HD-48B): As a current schoolteacher, Steffenhagen has emphasized the importance of fostering innovation within the education system and will be a key advocate for expanding educational opportunities. Steffenhagen is also a small business owner, who wants to reduce the numerous taxes and regulations that stifle entrepreneurship and prosperity.

Americans for Prosperity Action Announces 11 Primary Endorsements for Key Minnesota Legislative Races

Aug 5, 2024 By AFP

ST. PAUL, MN – Americans for Prosperity Action Minnesota (AFP Action MN) today announced its first 11 primary endorsements for the state legislature – including five non-incumbent challengers – as part of its attempts to break the Democratic Farmer Labor Party’s (DFL) single-party control of the state government.

AFP-MN will mobilize its army of grassroots activists across the state to educate and mobilize voters in support of these outstanding candidates through door knocking, digital ads and mail campaigns.

Jake Coleman, AFP Action MN Senior Advisor, made the following statement:

“This year we have an exciting opportunity to help elect policy champions who will fight back against the DFL’s tax and spend agenda with policies that will make it easier to live, start a business, and raise a family, and find schools that best meet the needs of your children.

“Minnesotans deserve better than the dysfunction and underhanded tactics used by the DFL at the end of last year’s legislative session to push through an unpopular slate of progressive policies. Once elected, we hope to see these principled leaders restore sanity to the state legislature and hold Governor Tim Walz accountable for his radical agenda.”
