EV Mandates Will Hurt Michigan’s Economy, But Slotkin Doesn’t Care

Detroit, Michigan – As Elissa Slotkin and Mike Rogers debate the impacts of the Biden-Harris Administration’s EV mandate, it’s important to remember that Slotkin has supported the administration’s ban on gas-powered cars.

AFP Action Senior Advisor Tim Golding released the following statement:

Just last month, Elissa Slotkin voted against a bill—introduced by Michigan Congressman John James—to roll back the Biden-Harris Administration’s electric vehicle mandate. This EV mandate spells disaster for Detroit, but Slotkin supports it anyway.

“Mike Rogers knows that it’s better to let industry innovate without interference from the government and he won’t back heavy-handed mandates that deprive consumers of choice, push businesses to the breaking point, or endanger Michigan jobs.”

Slotkin Voted for Crushing Inflation

Detroit, Michigan – As the economy remains a top concern for Michigan voters, Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin refuses to acknowledge that she voted for the inflation that’s crushing families and seniors living on fixed incomes.

AFP Action Senior Advisor Tim Golding issued the following statement as Slotkin and Rogers sparred over the cost-of-living crisis:

“Congresswoman Slotkin talks a good game, but her voting record shows her true loyalty is to the Democratic Party elites, even when its radical progressive agenda threatens the financial stability of Michiganders.

“Slotkin voted for inflation when she voted for the so-called “Inflation Reduction Act” which was actually reckless government spending. She also voted for the “American Rescue Plan.” Both bills mushroomed the national debt. Studies show that far from reducing inflation, these planks of the Biden-Harris agenda overheated the economy and triggered this historic cost-of-living crisis.

“Mike Rogers will restore fiscal sanity and defend hard-working taxpayers by opposing wasteful government spending.”

Kiggans Bests Cotter Smasal in Debate

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – After yesterday’s debate between Rep. Jen Kiggans and Missy Cotter Smasal, AFP Action is highlighting five key takeaways:

  • Rep. Kiggans will continue holding the Biden-Harris administration accountable for their weak border security policies and has a proven record fighting for increased border security
  • In the debate, Cotter Smasal failed to demonstrate how she will boost the economy, secure the border, and fight for Veterans.
  • During her first term in Congress, Rep. Kiggans successfully fought to reduce federal spending by helping to pass Washington’s first meaningful spending cuts in years.
  • As a 10-year Navy veteran, Rep. Kiggans successfully fought to fully fund the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and provide them with their largest-ever budget through the Consolidated Appropriations Act during her first term in Congress.
  • Rep. Kiggans’ voting record proves that she is the clear choice to continue to represent Virginia’s 2nd District.

AFP Action Senior Advisor Tim Parrish released the following statement:

“Yesterday, Rep. Jen Kiggans shared a vision for a strong Virginia by citing the critical legislation she’s helped to pass in Congress while also holding the Biden-Harris administration accountable for their weak policies negatively impacting Virginia families.

“Jen Kiggans is the leader Virginia deserves, and she has the experience and proven record needed to represent the 2nd District, secure the border, and reignite the economy in the Commonwealth.”

Peltola’s Gone Washington

ANCHORAGE, AK – During tonight’s debate between Mary Peltola and Nick Begich, Peltola claimed she is an independent voice for Alaska in Congress. But Peltola has voted in lockstep with President Biden more than 95% of the time.

Peltola has rubberstamped inflationary spending, tax increases and a crisis at the southern border. Alaskans deserve a member of Congress who will stand up to their party bosses and represent Alaska values – not those of Washington, DC.

AFP Action Senior Advisor Bethany Marcum released the following statement:

“Time and again, Mary Peltola has sided with the most progressive members in her party over Alaskans back home. Peltola has rubberstamped the Biden-Harris agenda that has resulted in high inflation and a cost-of-living crisis in Alaska.

“Alaskans are eager for new, independent leadership that will put Alaska values ahead of party politics. Nick Begich will tackle inflation and secure the southern border, all while putting Alaskans first.”
