Americans for Prosperity Action to Voters: Re-elect Trey Hollingsworth

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Americans for Prosperity Action® (AFP Action) on Thursday announced its support for U.S. Rep. Trey Hollingsworth (IN-9) in his re-election bid after identifying the freshman congressman as a champion of policies critical to removing barriers to opportunity and helping people improve their lives. AFP Action will urge Hoosiers to support Hollingsworth based on his active leadership on top policy priorities with grassroots engagement and targeted digital ads.

AFP Action Senior Advisor Justin Stevens issued the following statement:

“Rep. Trey Hollingsworth has proven to be a rare lawmaker Hoosiers can trust to have their back when it’s unpopular or easier to do otherwise. Trey reaffirmed his commitment to fiscal sanity and stood in contrast to most of Indiana’s congressional delegation when he voted against the bloated $1.3 trillion spending bill in March and the $854 billion spending bill in September. Lawmakers such as Rep. Hollingsworth, who deliver on promises and put principles over politics, are key to advancing the bold reforms that will break down barriers to opportunity and give Hoosier communities and businesses the best opportunity to flourish.”

U.S. Rep. Trey Hollingsworth has consistently led on policies that make it easier for Hoosiers to thrive. He supported the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act that increased take-home pay for millions of Americans and he has been an outspoken opponent of the policy and fiscal nightmare that is single-payer health care. Rep. Hollingsworth was also one of just two members of Indiana’s congressional delegation to reject the $1.3 trillion omnibus spending bill in March that pushed total Washington spending above $4 trillion annually for the first time. In September, Rep. Hollingsworth was again just one of two members of the delegation to reject H.R. 6157, another huge appropriations bill that kept spending at unsustainable levels.

AFP Action’s support for Rep. Trey Hollingsworth was announced alongside its support for Tom Emmer (MN-06), Mia Love (UT-04), Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05), Mark Meadows (NC-11), and Phil Roe (TN-01). The group already has efforts underway to support Rep. Rod Blum (IA-1), Rep. Dave Brat (VA-7), Rep. Ted Budd (NC-13), Rep. Steve Chabot (OH-1), Rep. Will Hurd (TX-23), Rep. Erik Paulsen (MN-3), Rep. Peter Roskam (IL-6), and David Young (IA-3).

Background:

Rep. Trey Hollingsworth was one of only two members of Indiana’s congressional delegation to vote against the $1.3 trillion omnibus in March.

  • Final House vote results on HR 1625 (3/22/18)
  • Final Senate vote results on HR 1625 (3/23/18)

Rep. Trey Hollingsworth was one of only two members of Indiana’s congressional delegation to vote against the $854 billion spending bill in September.

  • Final House vote results on HR 6157 (9/26/18)
  • Final Senate vote results on HR 6157 (9/18/18)

“A key element of our work to build progress in Washington is electing lawmakers who are committed to helping improve people’s lives and keep our country moving in the right direction. Each candidate we’re supporting has demonstrated active leadership on a wide-range of top policy priorities, and we are proud to stand with them this fall.”

Tom Emmer (MN-06)

Congressman Emmer has been a loyal public servant for Minnesotans by supporting tax and regulatory reforms that have fired up the economy for all Americans. He has been an outspoken advocate of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, particularly the elimination of special carve outs and loopholes that rig the system against hard working Americans.

Trey Hollingsworth (IN-09)

Congressman Hollingsworth has consistently led on breaking down regulatory barriers that have held Americans back. He supported the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act that increased take-home pay for millions of Americans and he has been an outspoken opponent of the policy and fiscal nightmare that is single-payer health care.

Mia Love (UT-04)

Congresswoman Love has shown true leadership on economic growth, immigration, and criminal justice reform. The Congresswoman voted in favor of the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief and Consumer Protection Act and the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, and has been a strong voice of support for prison and sentencing reforms.

Cathy McMorris Rodgers (WA-05)

Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers has consistently worked to reduce regulatory barriers, cut taxes for hardworking Americans, break down barriers to free trade, and ensure that veterans receive the quality of care they have earned. She is also a champion on immigration, steadfast in her pursuit of a permanent solution for Dreamers.

Mark Meadows (NC-11)

Congressman Meadows has consistently fought to lower regulatory barriers, reduce taxes for hardworking Americans, maintain our First Amendment right to free speech, and provide veterans with the health care they deserve.

Phil Roe (TN-01)

Congressman Roe has consistently been a champion on labor and veterans issues. His commitment to ensuring veterans receive the care they deserve was a crucial factor in the success of the groundbreaking VA Mission Act of 2018.
