Americans For Prosperity Action- Alaska Endorses Nick Begich For U.S. House Of Representatives

Begich will lead and take a firm stand on issues important to Alaska

Americans for Prosperity Action Alaska (AFP Action-AK) today endorsed Nick Begich for election to Alaska’s at-large seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“The field for Alaska’s lone congressional seat now boasts 48 names, but long before fighting for Alaska looked easy, Nick Begich had the courage to stand up and call out Washington D.C. for their failed policies,” said AFP Action-AK Senior Advisor Bernadette Wilson. “Nick understands that even when it’s not popular, or when it looks too difficult, we must fight the damaging effects of an irresponsible Congress. This courage and conviction will guide Nick as a champion for economic growth and opportunity.”

AFP Action-AK will leverage its grassroots activists to educate voters and encourage support for Begich ahead of the special and general elections.

AFP Action is a 527 political action committee focused on electing candidates who will drive policy change and facilitate the building of broad policy coalitions that remove barriers to opportunity and help people improve their lives.

“In some areas of Alaska fuel is nearly $6 a gallon,” said Wilson. “Spring barges coming into Alaska will see a 50 percent increase in cost compared to June of last year. Nationally, Americans will spend $5,200 just to cover the same day-to-day expenses as last year.

“As a resource-rich state, Alaska can lead the country with solutions that will fuel innovation and provide financial security,” she said. “There is no doubt Nick Begich has what it will take to lead the way and be a champion for Alaska.”

Background

Nick Begich knows that massive deficits and a soaring debt threaten the well-being of future generations and our nation’s security by limiting our ability to prepare for current and emerging threats. He understands that the role of federal lawmakers is to establish priorities and make the tough decisions to cut waste and unnecessary spending. And he will work to ensure our nation responsibly develops its energy resources to provide abundant and affordable energy.

Americans For Prosperity Action Georgia Announces Next Wave Of Georgia General Assembly Endorsements

ATLANTA – Americans for Prosperity Action-Georgia (AFP Action-GA) today announced its support for Georgia General Assembly candidates Beth Camp (HD-135) and Ed Setzler (SD-37).

Camp and Setzler received AFP Action’s endorsement for their commitment to policies that promote a strong economy and remove government barriers that prevent Georgians from achieving their full potential.

In the State House, Camp was the primary sponsor of legislation to remove occupational licensing regulations that require government permission to work. As a former school board member, Camp understands the importance of empowering parents with options for their children’s education. She has consistently supported charter schools, the Georgia Tax Credit Scholarship Program, and Education Scholarship Accounts.

As a member of the House Judiciary Committee, Ed Setzler has championed property rights as the lead sponsor of legislation, ensuring the property of innocent Georgians accused of a crime is not unjustly seized before criminal proceedings conclude. In the Georgia Senate, Setzler will continue to champion the Georgia Educational Scholarship Act and other programs that empower parents to provide the education that best meets their children’s needs.

AFP Action-GA will leverage its grassroots activists, direct mail, and digital advertising to educate voters and encourage their support for Camp and Setzer ahead of the primary and general elections.

“Ed Setzler and Beth Camp are the type of leaders Georgians need in the state General Assembly,” said AFP Action Georgia Senior Advisor Stephen Allison. “They understand the challenges that Georgia families confront each day, and they have the right policies to help people succeed, from improving education options for children to removing government barriers that stand in the way of individual achievement.”

Lansing, Michigan—Americans for Prosperity Action Michigan (AFP Action MI) announced today its endorsement of Tom Barrett to Michigan’s 7th Congressional District and John James to Michigan’s 10th Congressional District.

AFP Action will leverage a wide range of tactics, including the country’s largest grassroots outreach and mobilization, a full-time dedicated staff, and trained volunteers to educate and mobilize voters to support endorsed candidates.

That’s why we are support candidates who are focused on principles and policies that will improve people’s lives and get government out of the way so they have the greatest opportunity to succeed and live fulfilling lives.

Tom Barrett (MI-07)

Tom Barrett’s record in the State Senate proves him to be a reliable advocate for Michigan taxpayers. In the State Senate, Barrett voted to roll back the individual income tax rate and pushed to cut taxes on pensions. He will be a champion in Congress for commonsense fiscal policies that control government spending, promote economic growth, and create opportunities for new and better-paying jobs.

Barrett is a champion of workers through his efforts to break down legal and regulatory barriers that deny opportunities to qualified individuals. Barrett has voted to remove occupational licensing barriers, which require individuals to get state permission before they can perform certain jobs or open new businesses.

In Washington, Barrett will work to eliminate government rules and regulations that impose unnecessary burdens on businesses trying to provide jobs and contribute to their communities. In the State Senate, he supported a regulatory review bill that would require the annual review of rules, regulations, and licenses imposed on businesses and a bill to prohibit rules adopted by state agencies from being more stringent than federal regulations.

John James (MI-10)

John James will support policies that respect taxpayers, grow a strong economy, and end inflation that is eating away at paychecks and savings. He believes that taxpayers know better than the government how to best spend their hard-earned money, and Congress must get control of the federal budget. In Congress, he will be a strong advocate of controlling inflationary spending through a Balanced Budget Amendment and ending the practice of lumping multiple spending bills into massive, budget-busting catch-all bills that nobody reads. James will work to protect the tax reduction policies enacted in 2017.

John James will be a strong advocate for expanding educational opportunities for school children and adults in need of workforce training. James supports more choices and greater flexibility to help parents meet the specific educational needs of their children, including public, private, and charter schools.

John James is committed to making health care more accessible and affordable through market-based, patient-centered policies. He supports tort and regulatory reforms and greater transparency and competition to lower costs and increase quality. He will oppose harmful, top-down approaches to health care that reduce choice and drive-up costs.
