Detroit, Michigan–As the second Michigan Senate debate addresses border security, Elissa Slotkin continues to paper over her voting record.
AFP Action Senior Advisor Tim Golding released the following statement:
“Michiganders are troubled about the lack of order and security on the U.S.-Mexico border. They’ve seen the deaths caused by the fentanyl epidemic. But every time Elissa Slotkin had an opportunity to do something about it, she voted against securing the border.
- Elissa Slotkin voted against H.R. 2 the “Secure the Border” Act of 2023.
- As a freshman Congresswoman, Slotkin voted to terminate an emergency declaration that would have enabled the construction of a border wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.
- She dismissed the effort to strengthen the nation’s border security as merely ‘political action on the part of the President.’
On the other, Mike Rogers has always taken border security seriously and understands why border security is critical to keeping Michigan safe.”
