Americans for Prosperity Action Announces Support for Candidates Dedicated to Advancing the American Dream

Arlington, VA – Americans for Prosperity Action (AFP Action) today announced its support for six candidates vying for the U.S. House of Representatives, identifying each as a voice that, if elected, will champion policies to protect individual prosperity for all Americans, work to remove government barriers that stand in the way of American potential, and drive solutions to tackle our country’s greatest challenges.

AFP Action’s electoral engagement is laser-focused on electing leaders that will work to build broad-based policy coalitions as a means to drive principled reforms. Today, the grassroots-focused organization identified six candidates that will work to achieve these goals if elected: Genevieve Collins (TX-32), Michigan state Rep. Shane Hernandez (MI-10), Iowa state Rep. Ashley Hinson (IA-01), Wesley Hunt (TX-07), South Carolina state Rep. Nancy Mace (SC-01), and Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21.) AFP Action will use a range of tactics, including its signature grassroots, to urge voters to support these candidates for their principled advocacy of positive policy solutions to our nation’s greatest challenges.

AFP Action Senior Advisor Tim Phillips issued the following statement:

“Electing these lawmakers will be the driving force behind public policy that guarantees our fundamental rights, protects human potential, and ensures government barriers do not get in the way of building a better life. We are excited to throw our full support behind six additional candidates for the U.S. House of Representatives that have shown their commitment to advocating and leading on policies that ensure every American can pursue their dreams.”

Genevieve Collins (TX-32)

Candidate Genevieve Collins is an experienced businesswoman that will bring an entrepreneurial approach to public policy if elected to represent Texas’s 32nd Congressional District. While Collins has spent her career innovating the classroom so all students can succeed, she is committed to supporting policies that bring that same innovative approach to health care and expand economic opportunity. Collins supports prioritizing government spending, reducing red tape for businesses to thrive, and expanding access to quality, affordable health care.

Michigan State Rep. Shane Hernandez (MI-10)

State Rep. Shane Hernandez is an experienced lawmaker that will continue championing principled policy reforms if elected to Michigan’s 10th Congressional District. As Chair of the Appropriations Committee, Rep. Hernandez continuously stands up for Michigan families by promoting responsible spending, lowering taxes for hard-working Michiganders, and rejecting corporate welfare giveaways. Rep. Hernandez will continue his commitment to principled policy, regardless of what is politically convenient.

Iowa State Rep. Ashley Hinson (IA-01)

State. Rep. Ashley Hinson has focused her tenure on removing barriers and expanding opportunity so no Iowans are left behind. Rep. Hinson supports expanding access to quality, affordable health care, fights for lower taxes for hard-working Iowans, and for second chances for those who have paid their debts to society. If elected to represent Iowa’s 1st Congressional District, Rep. Hinson will continue her work as a consensus-builder and champion policies that improve the lives of all Iowans.

Wesley Hunt (TX-07)

Candidate Wesley Hunt’s leadership in the private sector and service to our country reflect in the legislative leadership we expect to see from him in Washington. Whether it be through ensuring access to quality, affordable health care, reducing red tape so more small businesses can thrive, fighting to lower taxes for hard-working Texans, or making sure government prioritizes spending and lives within its means, Hunt will show his commitment for positive and principled policy reforms if elected to represent Texas’s 7th Congressional District.

South Carolina State Rep. Nancy Mace (SC-01)

State Rep. Nancy Mace has gained a reputation for breaking barriers and fighting to change the status quo for the better. During her time in the state legislature, Rep. Mace has sponsored and passed meaningful, common sense policy reforms such as fighting to expand access to quality, affordable health care, reining in overzealous government spending, and making our criminal justice system smarter on crime and softer on taxpayers. Rep. Mace doesn’t just support the right policies, she leads on the issues even when politically difficult and strives for nonpartisan solutions to South Carolina’s greatest challenges.

Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21)

Congressman Chip Roy has dedicated his first term in office to championing positive policy solutions to the challenges Texans face. In Washington, Rep. Roy has continued to show leadership in prioritizing spending, improving access to quality, affordable health care, and championing better care for our veterans. Rep. Roy has time and again shown he is willing to stick his neck out for what’s right and will continue to do so if re-elected to Texas’s 21st Congressional District.
