Americans for Prosperity Action Announces Historic Electoral Engagement in Kansas

TOPEKA, KS—Americans for Prosperity Action (AFP Action) today announced its historic engagement in elections up and down the ballot across the Sunflower State. Adding to the candidates AFP Action supported during last month’s primaries, the organization’s electoral engagement in Kansas will include support for Rep. Roger Marshall running for U.S. Senate, Treasurer Jake LaTurner running for Kansas’s 2nd Congressional District, Tracey Mann running for Kansas’s 1st Congressional District, eight State Senate candidates, and 17 State House candidates. These candidates have all earned the support of AFP Action for their dedication to principled policy solutions that seek to tackle the greatest challenges Kansans face. The grassroots-focused organization will continue to evaluate additional candidates that show leadership in passing meaningful policy reforms, in races that AFP Action activists can make a difference in, ahead of November’s elections.

U.S. Senate:

 

Rep. Roger Marshall: During his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, Rep. Roger Marshall has supported numerous reforms to our country’s health care system and if elected to the U.S. Senate, he will continue this great work to ensure greater access to better quality health care, at a price Kansas families can afford. Rep. Marshall will also work to reduce red tape to make it easier for Kansas’s businesses, jobs, and the economy to recover, as he’s done through his support of rolling back erroneous regulations and Kansans keep more of what they earn. 

 

U.S. House of Representatives:

 

Tracey Mann: Former Lieutenant Governor Tracey Mann is dedicated to removing barriers to opportunity for all Kansans by championing economic policies that promote prosperity and fiscal responsibility. If elected to represent Kansas’s 1st Congressional District, Mann will continue to fight for lower taxes and less red tape to make it easier for jobs to come back, businesses to recover, and for hardworking families to get back on their feet. AFP Action was proud to support Mann in his primary contest. 

 

Jake LaTurner: Kansas Treasurer Jake LaTurner will champion positive policy reforms to some of the greatest challenges Kansas families face in Washington. Throughout his time in public office, LaTurner has fought for lower taxes, responsible government spending, and reduced red tape on businesses. Those principles are especially important to Kansas’s economic recovery right now. If elected to Congress, LaTurner will also work towards increased access to quality, affordable health care for Kansas families by fighting for patient-centered care.

 

State Senate:

 

Sen. Kevin Braun (SD-05):  In the State Senate, Sen. Kevin Braun has championed educational opportunity to ensure all Kansas students have a chance to succeed in an environment that works for their needs. Sen. Braun has also fought for more responsible government spending, less red tape standing in the way of businesses thriving, lower taxes, and better health care. We look forward to seeing Sen. Braun championing more principled policy if re-elected in November.  

 

Sen. Ty Masterson (SD-19): A champion for policies that expand opportunity for all Kansans, Sen. Ty Masterson has earned the support of AFP Action through his support of meaningful policy reforms in the Kansas State Senate. Sen. Masterson has supported educational opportunity to ensure all Kansas students can succeed, greater access to better health care, and lower taxes so Kansans keep more of what they earn.

 

Craig Bowser: (SD-22): Candidate Craig Bowser is dedicated to supporting policies that help ensure economic opportunity for all Kansans. If elected to the State Senate, Bowser will make it easier for our economy to recover through reducing red tape, ensure hardworking families keep more of what they earn through lower taxes, can earn a living through their chosen profession, and have greater access to better health care.

 

Sen. Mike Petersen (SD-28):  During his time in the Kansas State Senate, Sen. Mike Petersen has championed regulatory reform is helping Kansas’s jobs and businesses recover and rebuild. Sen. Petersen has also supported numerous efforts to keep our communities safe, improve access to quality health care, ensure our students can receive a great education, and our state government lives within its means, as hardworking Kansans must do.

 

Rep. Renee Erickson (SD-30): A champion for educational opportunity, reining in government spending, and ensuring Kansans can provide for their families, Rep. Renee Erickson will fight for principled policy if elected to the State Senate. AFP Action is supporting Rep. Erickson for her proven leadership in the State House and policy coalitions she will contribute to in the State Senate.

 

Sen. Mike Thompson (SD-10): In the Kansas State Senate, Sen. Mike Thompson has championed more responsible government spending, lower taxes on hardworking Kansans, and to make it easier for Kansans to be able to provide for their families. Through his leadership in ensuring principled policy solutions to the challenges Kansans face, Sen. Thompson has earned AFP Action’s support in his bid for re-election.

 

Rep. Kellie Warren (SD-11): In the Kansas House of Representatives, Rep. Kellie Warren led the fight against government favoritism and corporate welfare. If elected to the State Senate, Rep. Warren will continue her efforts to level the playing field for all Kansans and continue to support reducing red tape and lowering taxes to make it easier for our jobs, businesses, and the economy to recover.  

 

Mike Fagg (SD-14): A champion for responsible government spending, candidate Mike Fagg knows that hardworking Kansans must live within their means and thinks the government should be required to do the same. If elected to the State Senate, Fagg will also fight for less red tape and lower taxes to help Kansas’s economy recover—stronger than before.

 

Re. Alicia Straub (SD-33): In the Kansas House of Representatives, Rep. Alicia Straub has fought for more responsible, prioritized government spending. Rep. Straub has also supported educational opportunity for all students and their families, reducing regulatory barriers that keep businesses from thriving, and lower taxes so hardworking Kansans keep more of what they earn. AFP Action is excited to support Rep. Straub, as she will fight for these same principled policies in the Kansas State Senate.

 

State House:

Rep. Charlotte Esau (HD-14): In the Kansas House of Representatives, Rep. Charlotte Esau has supported efforts to expand access to quality, affordable health care, reduce red tape, rein in wasteful spending, fight for safer communities and more second chances, lower taxes, and combat corporate welfare giveaways to the well-connected few at the expense of the everyday Kansan. If re-elected, Rep. Esau will continue championing principled policy reforms that promote opportunity for all Kansans.

 

Rep. John Toplikar (HD-15): As a champion for educational opportunity and lower taxes, Rep. John Toplikar has a proven track record of making Kansas a better place to live, work, and raise a family. Rep. Toplikar earned the support of AFP Action for his support of many principled policy solutions to challenges Kansans face, such as: greater access to quality health care, reduced red tape, smart on crime, soft on taxpayer criminal justice reforms, and many more.

 

Laura Williams (HD-30): Candidate Laura Williams will support increased access to quality affordable health care, educational opportunity, reduced red tape, smarter spending practices, and lower taxes, if elected to the Kansas House of Representatives. AFP Action looks forward to supporting Williams in her bid to represent the 30th district ahead of November’s elections.

 

Rep. David French (HD-40): Throughout his time in the Kansas House, Rep. David French has championed health care reforms that improve access, quality, and affordability of care for all Kansans. Right now, his work to ensure better health care is vital for Kansas families and his leadership will help pave the way to future improvements in health care policy.  

 

Pat Proctor (HD-41):  Candidate Pat Proctor will also support positive reforms to health care, educational opportunity, and lower taxes, if elected to the Kansas House of Representatives this November. AFP Action will be supporting Proctor in November to ensure he builds policy coalitions that champion principled policy I the state house.

 

Terry Frederick (HD-48): Candidate Terry Frederick, vying for the 48th district in the Kansas House of Representatives, will champion greater access to better health care, responsible government spending, and combat corporate welfare, if elected this November.

 

Susan Estes (HD-93): This November, Susan Estes is running for the 93rd district in the Kansas House of Representatives and has earned the support of AFP Action through her dedication to principled policy reforms to health care, regulatory barriers that stand in the way of businesses growing, and corporate welfare that benefits a well-connected few at the expense of hardworking Kansans.

 

Rep. Dan Hawkins (HD-100): As a champion for greater access to better health care, Rep. Dan Hawkins has shown principled leadership in the Kansas House of Representatives. Throughout his time in the legislature, Rep. Hawkins has also supported more educational opportunities for Kansas students, less red tape, smart on crime, soft on taxpayers reforms to the criminal justice system, and responsible spending practices.

 

Rep. Barb Wasinger (HD-111): Rep. Barb Wasinger has championed educational opportunity for all Kansas students to succeed and responsible government spending during her time in the Kansas House of Representatives. If re-elected, Rep. Wasinger will continue to lead to ensure more positive steps in education and spending policy, alongside reduced red tape, lower taxes, and smart on crime, soft on crime justice reforms.

 

Rep. Chris Croft (HD-08): During his time in the state house, Rep. Chris Croft has consistently led to rein in irresponsible spending, combat corporate welfare and cronyism, and lower taxes so Kansans keep more of what they earn. AFP Action looks forward to supporting his re-election ahead of November.    

 

Jane Dirks (HD-20): Candidate Jane Dirks has shown dedication to championing policies that increase access to quality, affordable health care, ensure more responsible government spending, and lower taxes on hardworking Kansans.

 

Carl Turner (HD-28): AFP Action is supporting candidate Carl Turner for the Kansas House of Representatives because he will support increased access to quality, affordable health care, reduced red tape for businesses to grow, and lower taxes on hardworking Kansans.

 

Tim Johnson (HD-38): As a champion of educational opportunity, candidate Tim Johnson will work to ensure all of Kansas’s students can learn in the environment that best fits their needs. Johnson will also support smart on crime, soft on taxpayers reforms to the criminal justice system, reduced red tape for businesses to rebuild, and a lowered tax burden on families.

 

Lance Neelly (HD-42): AFP Action is supporting Lance Neelly for the Kansas House of Representatives for his support of principled policy solutions to the greatest challenges Kansans face. If elected, Neelly will support greater access to better health care, that Kansas families can afford, educational opportunity for all students and their families, prioritized government spending, and to allow hardworking Kansans to keep more of what they earn.

 

Steven Howe (HD-71): Candidate Steven Howe knows that Kansas families want to see more educational opportunities for their students, greater access to quality affordable health care, lower taxes, and less red tape so businesses, jobs, and the economy can grow. If elected, Howe will prioritize health care reforms, lower taxes, educational opportunity, and policies that make it easier for the economy to recover.
