AFP Action: Five Questions Josh Turek Must Answer in Tonight’s Debate as Democrats Embrace Socialism

DES MOINES, IA – Ahead of tonight’s debate for the U.S. Senate seat in Iowa between Republican nominee and U.S. Congresswoman Ashley Hinson and Democratic nominee Josh Turek, Americans for Prosperity Action (AFP Action) is calling on Turek to answer five simple questions for Iowa voters.

AFP Action believes moderators and voters should press Turek on these questions tonight:

  1. Will Turek commit to not supporting any policies that drive up the cost of living for Iowans families? (e.g., banning fossil fuels and driving up energy costs or increasing taxes on hardworking families)
  2. Does Turek support Medicare for All and a government-run, single-payer system that would eliminate private coverage for millions of Iowans?
  3. Turek says he wouldn’t vote for any DHS funding without “serious reforms to ICE.” Will he commit to keeping the agencies that secure our border and homeland funded?
  4. Can Turek demonstrate to Iowa voters where he disagrees with his Party and is willing to oppose it?
  5. If his Party continues to embrace the DSA platform, would Turek support policies like defunding the police and abolishing prisons?

AFP Action Senior Advisor Tyler Raygor issued the following statement:

“Iowans deserve a Senator who will stand up to the socialist wing of the Democratic Party, not one who dodges every tough question. Congresswoman Ashley Hinson has earned Iowans’ trust by fighting for lower costs, limited government, and the freedom for every family to get ahead. Tonight, voters will see who is ready to deliver for them in the Senate: Ashley Hinson.”
