COLUMBUS, OH – Today, former President Barack Obama campaigned in Ohio alongside Democrat U.S. Senate candidate Sherrod Brown, proudly standing behind their shared record of higher costs that Ohio families have been stuck with for years. Americans for Prosperity Action (AFP Action) is reminding voters of this destructive record and reasserting its support for Jon Husted, the Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate seat in Ohio.
Brown was one of Obama’s most reliable votes — he helped pass the Unaffordable Care Act, which rather than lowering premiums as promised, more than doubled individual premiums between 2013 and 2017. Brown provided unwavering support for Obama during eight of his nearly two decades in the Senate and supported the former president’s disastrous policies that fueled inflation and drove up prices on day-to-day necessities.
Donovan O’Neil, AFP Action Senior Advisor for Ohio, released the following statement:
“Sherrod Brown is relying on Ohioans to forget the economic hardship that his shared record with Barack Obama imposed on them. Brown voted for the Unaffordable Care Act, watched premiums soar, and has spent years defending it instead of fixing it. He also consistently cast votes for the reckless spending that set off record inflation, and Ohio families are still feeling it every time they fill a grocery cart or pay a medical bill. Now he’s sharing a stage with Obama to prove he would do it all again.
“Ohioans have a better choice. Jon Husted has fought to lower costs, grow Ohio’s economy, and put working families ahead of Democrats’ spending habits, and he’ll keep doing that in the Senate. AFP Action is proud to support Jon Husted for the U.S. Senate and will continue working to elect leaders who deliver lower costs and real results.”
