AFP Action Announces Slate of New Mexico State Legislative Endorsements

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Americans for Prosperity Action (AFP Action) today announced its support of eight candidates running for election and reelection to the New Mexico Legislature. 

AFP Action supports the following candidates for their leadership and commitment to increasing opportunity for all New Mexicans: Gabriel Ramos (SD-28), Nicole Tobiassen (SD-21), State Rep. Jenifer Jones (HD-32), Nicole Chavez (HD-31), Kimberly Skaggs (HD-36), Rebecca Dow (HD-38), Liz Winterrowd (HD-52), and Catherine Jeannette Cullen (HD-57).

AFP Action, as part of the largest grassroots network in the country, plans to leverage the full weight of its voter contact capabilities, in addition to direct-mail and digital advertisements, to support these candidates.

These candidates will work to pursue policies that will increase economic opportunity and lower taxes for New Mexico families and businesses. When elected, they will fight to improve educational outcomes for our students, lower inflation in the Land of Enchantment, and impose sound fiscal policies that will help improve the lives of New Mexicans.

Our staff and volunteers are excited to get out and connect with voters to discuss the kitchen-table issues facing our communities and how these great candidates can address them in the legislature.”

Endorsed Candidates

Gabriel Ramos (SD-28)

A former Democratic state senator, Gabriel Ramos brings a unique perspective to his return to the legislature. He will be a key voice on priorities like education, regulations, energy and taxes. Ramos will be a leader for educational choice when elected.

Nicole Tobiassen (SD-21)

Nicole Tobiassen will be a champion for policies that lower taxes and get rid of burdensome overregulation that is hurting New Mexico’s economic growth. She’s a vocal critic of regulations harming New Mexico’s energy industry and has consistenly opposed heavy taxes on energy producers.

State Rep. Jenifer Jones (HD-32)

State Rep. Jones brings a unique perspective to the legislature from her time as a registered nurse and supports common-sense health care reforms to expand telehealth accessibility and promoting licensure reciprocity. Beyond health care, Rep. Jones will be a strong proponent of regulatory reform to reduce government overreach in New Mexico.

Nicole Chavez (HD-31)

Throughout her career in health care administration, Chavez has been an advocate for health care reforms that will expand telemedicine and accessibility for New Mexicans. She’s vowed to be a proponent for educational choice and parental rights when elected.

Kimberly Skaggs (HD-36)

The former executive director of the New Mexico GOP, Skaggs deeply understands the issues facing New Mexicans. As the Vice President of the Alma D’Arte Charter High School Governance Board, she brings a unique perspective to the issue of school choice and will fight for increased educational opportunity for New Mexico’s students.

Rebecca Dow (HD-38)

Rebecca Dow is a key leader on education expansion and has penned numerous articles on the benefit of school choice. When elected, she’ll be an advocate for parental rights and increased educational opportunities for students. In addition to education, Dow will work to expand telemedicine accessibility in the state.

Liz Winterrowd (HD-52)

A former teacher with a strong passion for education reform, Liz Winterrowd will be a leading voice in expanding educational choice in New Mexico, advocating for approaches tailored to the unique student’s needs. Aside from education. Winterrowd will advocate for fiscally conservative policies in the legislature and will oppose tax increases on New Mexico families and businesses.

Catherine Jeannette Cullen (HD-57)

A former member of the Rio Ranch School Board, Catherine Jeannette Cullen will be a leader on education issues facing the legislature. She’s passionate about the value of non-traditional education options for students and will advocate for tailored solutions over one-size-fits all approaches to learning.

Americans for Prosperity Action Endorses Rep. Dan Newhouse for WA-04 

Olympia, WA– Today, Americans for Prosperity Action (AFP Action) announced its support for U.S. Representative Dan Newhouse’s reelection bid for Washington’s 4th Congressional District.
