AFP Action Targets Democrat Senators on Inflation, Border Security in Massive New Ad Blitz

Arlington, VA – As seen in NBC News, Americans for Prosperity Action (AFP Action) is launching a wave of new ads featuring powerful testimonials from real voters across Pennsylvania, Ohio, Montana, Wisconsin, and Michigan. The $8.75 million campaign focuses on the devastating impacts of inflation and the consequences of failed border security policies backed by Senators Jon Tester (MT), Sherrod Brown (OH), Bob Casey (PA), Tammy Baldwin (WI), and Representative Elissa Slotkin (MI).

AFP Action Director Nathan Nascimento issued the following statement on the buy:

“These Senators have carelessly steered our economy and our country off course by supporting the failed radical progressive agenda of the Biden-Harris administration. The American people deserve better than the finger-pointing and excuses they get from Jon Tester, Jacky Rosen, Sherrod Brown, Bob Casey, Tammy Baldwin, and Elissa Slotkin. As AFP Action speaks with voters across the country, we hear a clear message: they want leadership that prioritizes their economic and border security concerns, not the interests of politicians in Washington, D.C. Yet these Senators refuse to take responsibility and continue to shift the blame. Americans need a new direction and that requires new leadership.”

The testimonials in the ads are heart-wrenching. Jack K. from Scranton, PA, shares the devastating moment he discovered both of his parents dead from a Fentanyl overdose—a crisis that is growing out of control as a result of weak border security. 18,798 people have been killed by Fentanyl in Pennsylvania. Meanwhile, Aime D. from Canton, Ohio, expresses her despair about the economy: “The American Dream is dangling by a thread.” This sentiment resonates in Wisconsin and Michigan, as well as in Montana, which ranks in the top five for inflation nationwide. Joe F. from Missoula says: “It’s hard to deal with that. You know you have to decide what you have to cut back on what experiences you can’t let your kids have anymore.”

Simultaneously, the ads present a path forward with Navy SEAL Tim Sheehy, first-generation American Bernie Moreno, business leader David McCormick, entrepreneur Eric Hovde, and former Rep. Mike Rogers—candidates ready to champion policies to reduce inflation, make life more affordable, and secure America’s southern border.

Five Key Takaways from MI Senate Debate

Grand Rapids, Michigan—Last night, Mike Rogers showed Michiganders that he has what it takes to be Michigan’s next senator.

AFP Action Senior Advisory Tim Golding issued the following statement about why Mike Rogers won the first debate against Elissa Slotkin.

“Here are five key takeaways for Michigan voters:

  1. Slotkin talked bipartisanship but is a fierce liberal partisan once she crosses the DC Beltway, voting 100% with the Biden-Harris agenda in Congress.  Slotkin ignores the needs of hard-working Michiganders and goes to work advancing her party’s radical progressive agenda—even if that means ending the filibuster, raising taxes, or ending the Right to Work by supporting the PRO Act.
  2. Despite previous claims that she’s a “fiscal conservative” and believes in “treating our federal budget like we treat our home budget” Slotkin voted for the “Inflation Reduction Act” and all its reckless spending that led to 40-year high inflation.
  3. Slotkin talked tough about the border but she voted against H.R. 2 the “Secure the Border” Act of 2023.  As a freshman Congresswoman, Slotkin voted to terminate an emergency declaration that would have enabled the construction of a border wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.  She dismissed the effort to strengthen the nation’s border security as merely “political action on the part of the President.”
  4. Slotkin tried to position herself as a moderate on energy and environmental issues but her voting record shows that she puts progressive politics over the best interests of Michigan’s families and businesses.  Despite spelling potential disaster to Michigan’s economy, Slotkin voted just last month to uphold the Biden-Harris Administration’s electric vehicle mandate. This follows a trend of Slotkin backing feckless energy initiatives that would increase energy costs and destabilize Michigan’s energy grid.
  5. Mike Rogers won that debate with good ideas and solid policy. Join AFPA and help us send him to the Senate. Rogers understands how federal policies affect kitchen table issues. Michigan needs him in the Senate to restore fiscal sanity.  If you’re not doing better today than you were four years ago, then you need to vote for Rogers for US Senate. He’s going to buck the status quo and hold the line for Michigan.”

Colorado is Less Safe Under Caraveo’s Leadership

DENVER, CO – Border security and immigration are top of mind for many Coloradans as our nation faces an unprecedented crisis at the southern border. But the truth is, Colorado has gotten less safe under the leadership of Yadira Caraveo.

From the influx of Fentanyl in our communities to the presence of gangs right here in Colorado, Caraveo has failed to protect Coloradans from the border crisis. Under the Biden-Harris administration every state is a border state, and Coloradans deserve a leader like Gabe Evans who will work on day one to secure the southern border. Evans has pledged to increase technology, boots on the ground and infrastructure to help secure the southern border and secure Colorado.

AFP Action Senior Advisor Jesse Mallory released the following statement:

“While her political ads can make it sound like she supported border security, Colorado has gotten less safe under Caraveo’s watch.

“Gabe Evans has a plan to secure the border and our communities by building a wall and supporting the brave men and women serving with Customs and Border Patrol. A supporter of immigration, Evans wants to make the American Dream achievable right here in Colorado.”
