AFP Action Announces Slate of Illinois State Legislative Endorsements

SPRINGFIELD, IL – Americans for Prosperity Action (AFP Action) today announced its support of seven candidates running for re-election to the Illinois General Assembly.

The following candidates garnered AFP Action’s support for their leadership and commitment to increasing opportunity for all Illinoisans: State Rep. Amy Grant (HD-47), State Rep. Martin McLaughlin (HD-52), State Rep. Jackie Haas (HD-79), State Rep. Nicole La Ha (HD-82), State Rep. Brandun Schweizer (HD-104), State Rep. Amy Elik (HD-111) and State Rep. Kevin Schmidt (HD-114).

AFP Action, as part of the largest grassroots organization in the country, plans to leverage the full weight of its voter contact capabilities, in addition to direct-mail and digital advertisements, to support these candidates.

Endorsed Candidates:

State Rep. Amy Grant (HD-47)

A former schoolteacher, Rep. Amy Grant is deeply passionate about education issues facing the legislature and has been a trusted partner with AFP Action on key issues like funding the Invest In Kids program. Grant is an ally on economic issues, serving as the lead sponsor of tax cuts that would help Illinois families.

State Rep. Martin McLaughlin (HD-52)

Rep. Martin McLaughlin has been a consistent voice for fiscal responsibility, cosponsoring balanced budget amendment legislation and a bill to freeze discretionary spending for two years. In the House and as a local mayor before that, he has been a leader in fighting to lower property taxes. McLaughlin has also supported several bills to expand the tax credit scholarship program to increase education freedom.

State Rep. Jackie Haas (HD-79)

Rep. Jackie Haas focuses on fiscal responsibility and promoting job growth in Springfield. She is a champion for Illinois taxpayers by cosponsoring legislation to prevent a graduated income tax and a retirement tax. Haas has a proven record of removing government barriers to quality health care and education.

State Rep. Nicole La Ha (HD-82)

Rep. La Ha brings a depth of experience and extensive public service record from serving as Homer Glen Board of Trustees member and founder of a disability organization. She has consistently advocated for lower taxes and responsible spending and strongly supports Illinois’ charter school tax credit program.

State Rep. Brandun Schweizer (HD-104)

After recently being appointed to the state legislature, Rep. Schweizer has proven himself to be a valuable partner on labor, taxes and health care. He is a champion for fiscal conservatism and lowering the property tax as well as expanding quality health care access and affordability to Illinoisians.

State Rep. Amy Elik (HD-111)

Rep. Amy Elik understands the threat that out-of-control spending poses to our state, not just as a driver of inflation but as a threat to our long-term economic prosperity. In the State House, Elik is the lead sponsor of the balanced budget amendment to control state spending. She also opposed moving to a graduated income tax system, new excise taxes, and gas tax increases.

State Rep. Kevin Schmidt (HD-114)

A trusted partner, Rep. Schmidt was an early supporter of the Invest In Kids program, a vital program allowing more school choice for Illinois students. He has also been a leading voice on economic issues in the legislature and has called out irresponsible spending.

LAS VEGAS, NV Americans for Prosperity Action (AFP Action) and The LIBRE Initiative Action (LIBRE Action) today announced their support of two candidates running for election to the Nevada State Assembly: Annette Dawson Owens (AD-29) and Rebecca Edgeworth (AD-35).

Dawson Owens and Edgeworth have garnered AFP Action and LIBRE Action’s support for their leadership and commitment to increasing opportunity for all Nevadans.
